So I thought that today would be a good day to focus on the knitting part of the blog - seeing as I'm still a few weeks away from the taping part of it. Anyway, haven't knitted since last Friday. Very bad. But it's still ridiculously hot here in Mentor and I needed to get some other (knit) things done and out of the way. And I found some fun new things - to be discussed a little later.
So today after work, I went to the office supply store and got a new (pretty) binder and folders and page protectors and other stuff, but all that was to better organize all my WIP's and all those wonderful things I long to start to knit. And then I proceeded to figure out the blankets to be made for soon-to-be-arriving niece and nephew and wrote them out. Then I wrote out the pattern that my sister expressed some interest, and then the "Ballband Dishcloth" pattern from Mason-Dixon Knitting, so that all my library books could be returned on time tomorrow after work. Woohoo. No I just have to organize and put them all away. No problem.
The other knit related thing that took up some of my time this evening was me joining some KAL's. Maybe I've gone a bit crazy, but I found a link on a blog I was reading for a list of KAL's, and wouldn't you know it, the second from the top is a Football-Along. Now, anyone who knows me will know that there was no way, absolutely no way possible, that I would not click on that link and sign up as soon as I figured out that it combines football and knitting. So I did. Then I go back to the list and scroll down. And what do I find? One called "Black and Gold KAL". Hmmm, could it possibly be that somehow there is a sight devoted to combining my love of the Steelers and my love of knitting in a way to meet other people just as obsessed with those two things as I am? Surely not. So I clicked on it.
And there it was, a knit-along devoted to people who love the Black and Gold - whether it be the Steelers, the Pirates, the Penguins, or any other team with the colors of black and gold. But seeing as it is done up by someone in Pittsburgh, I think it's safe to say that I will see many wonderful idea for some Steeler knits for the fam. Now I just have to get all my other projects done so that I can start something. So excited. Can't wait to figure out how to get the button on here somehow.
I promise that tomorrow night, there will be some knitting. Hopefully some finishing of a pair of socks and a right front panel to a cardigan in seafoam green. (It's supposed to be significantly cooler here tomorrow, can you tell?)
P.S. I can't tell you how bummed I am that I missed out on the Mystery Stole 3 PHENOMENON that is taking place over with Pink Lemon Twist. Silly vacation getting in the way of new knitting projects. So jealous of everyone who is having fun with the lace making and beading. Next year......

Travel Log Day 14: The End
And I am once again back home in Ohio. The trip back to Pittsburgh was uneventful. Had a good time with Liz - even if she did have to work last night. We decided that I should spend last night at her place after the drink I ordered at dinner ended up being a lot bigger than expected. Probably for the best anyway. And the drive this morning went really quickly - except for the part where there was like a 20 car caravan of Michigan plates - all going 80 mph in a 50 mph work zone I might add.

Spent the rest of today trying to stay as cool as possible and failing miserably. For those of you who don't know what the weather here in beautiful NE OH was today - it's still about 90 and it's almost 10pm. Yick. It's supposed to be just as hot tomorrow and Tuesday too - luckily I get to spend all day in the wonderfully freezing air-conditioned mundaneness of work. It feels like it's been ages since I've been to work. Definitely not so happy about the ending of the whole vacation thing. No knitting pictures of course - haven't finished the sock yet - so close. I just didn't get a chance once I got to Pittsburgh and it was too hot to do anything today. Maybe tomorrow. My last day in Philly - I coaxed mom into finding Loop. Oh the time and money I could have spent in that store. And... they wound my yarn for me!!! I know that the knitters out there are rolling their eyes at me, because what yarn store doesn't wind yarn purchased there? The one I went to around here - will not name it though. They had a sign over their winder that said "NO WINDING". What is the point of having the funny looking wooden thing out in front of customers if you won't help them out with it? So much time saved. So much more effective than sitting with it around my knees. Maybe on my birthday wish list... Anyway, disappointingly, or not, I got more sock yarn - some really pretty colorway of Lorna's Laces. Can't remember the name and it's still with mom in NJ. But it's sooo pretty. Saw lots of colors and yarns I so badly wanted to get - but I didn't know any of the amounts that I would need for any of the blankets or other things I'd like to work on. But I can always go online and order from them - they did give me a free tote bag after all. So anyone near Philly - go to Loop. It's so nice and the ladies that were working were also so nice. Alright - it's been 45 minutes since I started this post, so I think it's time to end it.

Travel Log Day 11
Well, it's goodbye to Philly today. My flight is supposed to leave later this afternoon. Off to Pitt again. Maybe I'll have a little better luck in my search for Big Ben. Keep your fingers crossed. The 4th was a bit disappointing here in Philly. It started off fine - we went out to Independence Hall and took the abbreviated tour - we weren't allowed up the stairs where they sing in the movie "1776" - it was all set up for the dignitaries who were outside rambling about things that had nothing to do with the day itself. Silly politicians. And then we went to the Betsy Ross House which is cute and interesting. Then we went out to South Philly and got cheesesteaks at Pat's. There's a corner in South Philly - for those of you who don't know - where two cheesesteak places have competed forever and both argue over who has the best. Pat and Geno's are the spots. Geno's was throwing a big bash with a band and everything so their corner was a bit crowded and that was why we ended up over at Pat's. But it was very good. Make sure that you read the sign and order the correct way - they get mad if you don't.
Anyway, it was after the marathon shopping expedition to IKEA that the day turned a bit soggy and yicky. We didn't end up going back out because of the rain. But we saw plenty of fireworks out of Ellie's giant picture window - they were small neighborhood fireworks but they sufficed. The fireworks - the official ones - were supposed to go off over by the art museum - which we cannot see from the swanky apt. They were cancelled and so everyone left - and then 10 minutes later they set them off for the tv audience. Silly Philly people in charge. Originally we had been told that they set them off from a barge here on the Delaware which we would have been able to see from the other side of the apartment building, but they didn't do it that way this year.
Yesterday, mom and I drove up to go shopping at the Reading outlets - one of her absolute favorite things to do. Considerably lower on my list, but I was a good dutiful daughter and went along. Passed a cute little yarn store on the way out of town that I did not make her go into. That was all the excitement for yesterday. We're still trying to figure out what to do before we have to go to the airport.
Wrote out the pattern for some "Jaywalker" socks from MagKnits. In reading other blogs, they seem to be quite popular, and seeing that I knitted some "Monkey" socks before I got into blogland and found out how popular they were, I figured I should work on the "Jaywalkers" next. Turned the heel - twice - yesterday on the second of Peggy's socks. Stupidity, thy name is Annie.

Travel Log Day 9
Greetings from Philly! Yes that's right, I am now back in the city of brotherly love. The weekend in MD was fantab!!! There was a little bit of a hiccup getting to Jefferson, but we made it without too much drama. Spent most of the weekend lounging around on Aunt Jo and Uncle Marvin's wonderful deck. Seriously a great way to spend some vacation time. Seeing all the family was so great - I haven't seen my cousin from Cali since I was 11. Sadly I won't be able to make it to her wedding next month, but I'm sure that it will be beautiful.
But back to this week's nuptials, Krista was sooo gorgeous. The ceremony was beautiful, it was at Sugarloaf Mountain which was an amazing site. I'm sure that all of their pictures will come out great. I wish her and Adam all the happiness that they can handle. Charlie was a little dance machine, everyone loved him - of course. I'll get some pictures up when I get back to OH. But everyone had a great time, and that's the important part.
Sunday morning my brother, sister-in-law, dad and Charlie went to Gettysburg and took a lovely abbreviated version of the audio tour. It was a beautiful day and it was nice to get to see Gettysburg again. Of course my big brother decided that we had to walk up the highest observation tower in the park - it wouldn't be any fun otherwise. So a little bit of leg burning went along with the trip. Monday afternoon/evening mom, Ellie and me went out to Harper's Ferry, which was really nice. I went once before and did the historical museumy tour with my mom and brothers and others. But I was 12 or 13 and don't really remember too well, so this was much better. Not to mention, the last time I went, it was the middle of winter and so the weather wasn't so great for all the gorgeous landscape photo ops.
Today we were out and about here in Philly. Definitely doing the tourist thing. Looking like tourists and everything. Saw the Liberty Bell and then.... the Duck tour! Much to Ellie's chagrin, we went on the Duck Tour through Philly and then out into the Delaware River (which was the cool part). Decent tour, cheesy tour guide (Captain Dale = a 10 on the cheese-o-meter), and really obnoxious wacky quackers in the hands of several teenage boys. Followed the tour up with a little shopping on South Street and then back to the swanky apartment to make dinner and chill out. All in all a very good day. Lots of walking, but that's good. Philly is a great city to walk through in my opinion.
Slowly working my way through the second of Peggy's socks. The first was done before we got out of Philly on Friday (due to the hiccup). But I think that's all from my world right now. Tomorrow should be good - Independence Hall, Center City, fireworks from the common balcony here at the swanky apartment. We'll see what the weather holds for Thursday - that will determine what mom and I end up doing (sadly, Ellie has to go back to work). Bye from Philly!

Travel Log Day 4
Another night in NJ. Just checked out the train schedules to plan my trip back to Philly. Then it's on to Maryland for the weekend. Busy, busy, busy. Definitely not your average vacation, but I'm loving it. Little Charlie had quite the day. The workers came and started to tear down his house! Not really, though it sounded like that's what they were doing all day long, but they only took down the siding. And managed to put up almost a whole side in the new green. Charlie was most distressed at the "gig messy mess" they were making. "Dad clean up the messy mess" was heard often today. And the nice ladies came to clean up his inside messy messes. All sorts of people coming over to Charlie's house.
Big news - Baby Perry has been officially identified as being a boy!!! Yay! but sad. Was kinda hoping for a niece to make matching pretty pink things. Oh well, have to make some boy things and girl things. It's just not as cute to make boy things.
Asked mom to bring more yarn when she comes out tomorrow. Am thinking that I'll be done with Peggy's socks before my plane ride back to Pittsburgh, so more sock yarn is needed, just in case. Speaking of Peggy's socks, getting close with the first one, a few more inches of boring old stockinette before the toe decreases. Woohoo. Should get most of it done tomorrow on my train ride.

Asked mom to bring more yarn when she comes out tomorrow. Am thinking that I'll be done with Peggy's socks before my plane ride back to Pittsburgh, so more sock yarn is needed, just in case. Speaking of Peggy's socks, getting close with the first one, a few more inches of boring old stockinette before the toe decreases. Woohoo. Should get most of it done tomorrow on my train ride.

Travel Log Day 2
Officially Day 2 of my vacation. So far everything has gone as planned. Well, except for the whole staying up until 1 am with Liz the other night. Awake til 1 and then up again at 5 is not my idea of a good night's sleep (but the 2 hours of "Bridezillas" that we watched were totally worth it). Anyway, spent yesterday in Philly with Ellie. Well, to be specific we spent most of the day in Cherry Hill, NJ and the area surrounding it. Good times getting lost but not really, and shopping without buying anything. I know that I kept giving her the look while we were at the mall, but I was tired and she is definitely much more of a browser when she shops than I am. Hope I wasn't too grouchy Ellie.
I feel like a bonafide traveller today though. Took the shuttle to the train station, then the train to Trenton, then the train to Metuchen - without any mistakes. And I walked to Charlie's house without getting lost either. Or passing out from dehydration. It's wicked hot and humid on the eastern seaboard today.
Master Charles is currently taking his nap, but can't wait to see him when he gets up. Until then, think I'll go work on Peggy's socks. About to turn the heel on the first one, and didn't want to start it on the train and lost stitches or my place before finishing that section. Pitched a simple project to Ellie, hoping to work on it next week after all the wedding fun.
