Some Finished Objects!!

I'm feeling very productive right now. I finished two projects last night! I mean, finishing one would be good, but two in the same night - that's just craziness. So, first up, the Fair Isle Pillow. I really liked the way it came out. I wasn't sure how I would like when I saw there was so much green - both balls of yarn only showed some green in the middle so there was no way to tell how much there was - but I like it anyway. If I were ever to make a pillow again, I will not use anything that has mohair in it (aka Lamb's Pride), it's way to shed-dy and scratchy.

Next up, the (very) long awaited Jaywalkers. I finished the first sock way back in early August, and then wouldn't let myself cast on for the second one until early this month. And then the SotS took over my knitting life for a few weeks, and then there was no sock knitting whilst playing the evil Sox, anyway, after many delays, here's the finished pair. They were done in Lorna's Laces, a special colorway only done for SimplySockYarnCompany.com.

And this is how far I got the other day on Flore. I think it's looking so so cute. I cast on for the final petal color, but didn't get much farther. I'm hoping to get it done this weekend.

My goal in all of this is to get some of my little projects done and out of the way so that I can pick up Mason's blanket again (yes the yarn finally did come in, thank you Encore) and crank that out. I also have to put buttons onto Elliott's wool BSJ, and then make the washable version. I'm going to start my Steelers socks today, and when all these projects are done, I can start on my Notre Dame sweater, and the few Christmas items that I have in mind.

P.S. Sarah is at home and doing very well, C4 is loving being a big brother and consoles her every time she cries.

Welcome Baby Girl!

Just a quick note to welcome Sarah Elizabeth into this world. She arrived at 8:40 this morning weighing 7lbs 12 oz and measuring 19 3/4 inches long. Everyone is doing well.

Congratulations to Charlie and Rachel, and to the new big brother Charlie 4. Pictures to follow when I get some. Can't wait to meet Sarah in a few weeks.

Lots o' Knitting

Alright - been very busy since last post. Lots of knitting. First up - Secret of the Stole. Haven't progressed too far into hint 2 - but that's because I messed up and had to tink back, and in the tinking back I dropped a stitch (without realizing it) and kept tinking back - all the way to the 3rd row of the second hint, before catching that dropped stitch. So I tinked back at least 10 rows. But, I'm back on track - thanks to the Indians game last night. You'll see a picture when I finish this hint.

On to a new project - Odessa. Cute hat that will be for me. It's light grey with frosted pink beads (the beads don't show too well in the photo). The pattern is by Grumperina from MagKnits. Here's the progress:

Keeping with the hat theme, this is how far I've gotten on Flore. It's cute, now I have to do the same thing in the next color up.

I took a Fair Isle class at Knitting on the Square last week. The pattern is for a pillow cover, and it's an original by the store owner, Kate Jackson. This is my first attempt at Fair Isle, and I love it. Definitely think that it is meant to be done in the round, can't imagine attempting it flat. Anyway, I'm using Lamb's Pride Worsted and some Noro Kureyon. Let me know what you think.

Onto other things in my life. That's right, I did something other than watch football and knit this weekend. I went to the Hiram House Pumpkin Festival with Bridget and Kaylee. It was really nice. Kaylee loved the petting zoo and pony ride, and Bridget is encouraged by the fact that Kaylee is willing to eat apples on a stick, she's been a bit of a fussy eater lately.

I am uninspired today. Can't come up with a title. Oh well. Life goes on. I am spending this week anxiously waiting for the Indians -Red Sox game, which isn't until Friday. Yay Indians for beating the Yankees! All wins are good, but they're somehow sweeter when against the Yankees - it's universal.

I feel like I haven't accomplished anything this week - but I have. I'm done with Hint 1 of my Secret of the Stole. Here it is:

Mason's blanket is still hibernating. I'm hoping to finish it in time for Christmas. I cast on for Kaylee's "Flore", but didn't go much further than that - pics when it actually looks like something. And I think that is all of my knitting news. Which means, that's all of my news period.

Wahoo!

Yay Tribe!! Last night saw me at the Jake - watching my Indians beat the snot out of those d**m Yankees. Such a great and exciting game - well, only if you were an Indians fan. I had a feeling that the night would go well when we saw a man in a Jeter shirt being escorted out in handcuffs, while we were waiting to go up the escalator. How at 5:30 can you have gotten yourself in trouble already? The game didn't start for an hour afterwards. But, he was a Yankee fan, can't expect too much. I didn't take my camera to the game, Ellie did, though, I don't think she took more than 2 pics. A big huge THANK YOU to Charlie and Rachel for the tickets - especially since they were kind enough to get 4 and not just 2, even though it was my parents anniversary gift, and therefore allow me to attend. So tonight it's Carmona, and then Sunday night in New York - I hope we make it short and sweet.

Holy Crap

Somehow the impossible has happened. Peapod is complete. That's right, the slog of all slogs is done. And only a week and a half later than I wanted. I can't even wrap my mind around it. I don't think I'll miss it. I can finally move onto new stuff without feeling too guilty (mild feelings of guilt due to the fact that Mason's blanket isn't finished - once again due to lack of yarn). But I plan on starting Flore, and finishing Elliott's BSJ, and the second Jaywalker within the next week to week and a half. I'll remain hopeful on those fronts. Even more hopeful that Mason's yarn will arrive at Knitting on the Square this week and I can make some head way with that.

Not too much to report on in my non-knitting world (big surprise). Mason is doing well. And Elliott loves being a big brother - don't try to walk out of the room with Mason while Elliott is stuck in his high chair - trust me. Still awaiting the arrival of Sarah. Tried to talk to C4 on the phone tonight- he wasn't interested because I wasn't grandma and he'd been rehearsing saying "Happy Anniversary grandma!" No love for Aunt Annie (Happy 35th anniversary to my parents by the way). Sarah's christening has been scheduled for 11/11/07. Of course, that is the day of Steelers v. Browns in Pittsburgh. The game that Elizabeth requested tickets for. On the 50 yard line. So of course, because this is my life after all, she'll get them, and I won't be able to go. Now, if my life were to be different, she wouldn't get them because the christening would be on a different day, but because it's that day, she'll get them.

On a happy note, going to the Indians playoff game on Thursday!! Charlie got the parentals tix for the big anniversary. Can't wait. It's been too long since the Tribe has been playing in October. And I need them to do well to make up for the abominable season ND is having - and for the loss my Steelers suffered today - darn you Ken Whisenhunt!
